Quick Update
Here’s the recipes I attempted to send this morning. Outlook is giving me some problems. A few messages went out but then it locked up. It’s best to just start again and cover everyone.
It’s 4:30 and we’re open with 9 +flats available.
We’ll be open early tomorrow at 10:00 with more berries. If I sell out don’t worry, more will arrive at the usual times – 12:30, 2:30 and 4:30 (if the temps are mild). If the day is really hot we won’t be able to harvest much past 2:30.
Mangoberry Shake
1 Container or 1 cup plain; vanilla, or mango yogurt (8-ounce)
1 Soft ripe mango; peeled and cut up (about 1 cup)
1 c Frozen unsweetened strawberries cut up
Sugar; if needed
Puree yogurt and mango in blender. Gradually drop in strawberries through opening in blender cover. Taste shake. If you used plain yogurt you may like to add 1 tablespoon sugar. Makes 3 Cups.
Note: The berries bring out the flavor of the mango. Adding the frozen berries instead of ice means you get a cold drink without diluting the drink.
For a thinner drink, add 4 to 6 ice cubes
Berry Parfait
1 pt. strawberries, hulled
1 tbsp. sugar
2 c. whipped cream
1/2 tsp. almond extract
Chop 1 cup of berries; add sugar and let stand 15 minutes. Combine 1 cup of the whipped cream, the chopped berries and extract. Spoon into four dessert glasses. Slice remaining strawberries; arrange around rims of glasses. Garnish with remaining whipped cream. Chill 1 hour. Makes 4 servings.
