Petaluma FFA Dairy Team Invite from Sally Strawberry

Hi gang!

 

So perhaps you thought I’d have plenty of time this spring right???  Oh no….. my strawberry hours have quickly been filled coordinating the fundraiser event for my daughter Kelli and the Petaluma FFA dairy team.  I am such a proud momma and more than pleased to help these awesome FFA members gather support for their adventure to Scotland.  Some of you know I was a 9 year 4-H member and a 4 year FFA member in my youth.  I can’t even begin to tell you how much those activities and experiences shaped my life.  Club meetings, projects, public speaking, recordkeeping, scheduled practice, dedication, accomplishment ……  I could go on and on.  I am who I am today because of it.

 

This Dairy team has done a fantastic job representing Petaluma for the past 4 years and managed something no other team in the Petaluma FFA history has ever done – receive an invitation to compete at the international level.  All of the team members have been judging individually since they were between 8 and 10 years old, and as a team for the past 4 years.  They won the state level competition and advanced to the national competition where they placed 2^nd in a field of 50 competing teams!  This is truly an honor and an accomplishment.

I’ve posted details about our FUN event on May 22^nd, there’s a page of wonderful auction/raffle items donated by generous community businesses, and an opportunity for you to support youth in agriculture on the “Support the Team” page.  The team needs a great deal of sponsorship and support (sincerely, any sponsorship amount is gratefully appreciated) to allow them to travel to Scotland for the competition.   Please visit the “Support the Team” page to learn more.

Saturday, May 22^nd

Hermann Sons Hall, Petaluma

4:30 – 9:30PM

 

Pasta with all the yummy fixins’, no host bar, silent and live auction, raffle, and plenty of good time community fun.

 

All proceeds benefit the 2010 state winning team traveling to Scotland in June to compete for the international title at the Royal Highland Livestock Exposition.
