2:45 - OPEN with more berries coming!

Hey gang,

The berries are starting to produce more! We're getting a little more each day we're open.

We have berries on the stand right now and I'm headed off to the field to pick up the last 12 flats. That should hold us for quite a few more hours. Don't write us off in the afternoons any longer, take that chance and drive by when thoughts of strawberries dance through your heads :)

We will be open on Friday 12 - 5:30/6 then on Sunday with the same hours. Stop by and keep my girl at the stand busy!!

Cheers!

5:00 - 5 flats left!

Hi gang,
If you're close by, we have 5 flats waiting to go home with someone :) Because we've been closed most folks don't think of us after 5:00 - and rightly so. Stop by and snag these so the girls can close the stand
XOXOXO
Cheers!

Brought in 33 flats of berries today @ noon. We have plenty available and our girl @ the stand needs company. Stop by and tell her you read the email :) All the berries must find homes. We got a lot more today because of the freak rain/closure on Wed. Good for you!!!

Cheers!

Open, BLUEBERRIES, and Plums!! ++++ THANK YOU

Hi gang,

First off, let me thank each and every one of you who whipped over to our stand when I sent out the SOS on the 4th. My field workers called @ 12:00 with the news that they had picked berries which was TOTALLY unexpected. Annie and Whitley saved me by managing the stand and we were sold out by 2:30. THANK YOU!!! I know a lot of you were concerned about having to dump them..... and I'm happy to say we didn't need to. With it being a holiday (no soup kitchen open), 100 degree heat and so little qty to justify using fuel to run the cooler...... I would have had to find a quick home for them if all of you didn't adopt them.

Blueberries
Today we have 4 cases of blueberries. They'll be there at noon.

Plums
Lee will have plums again today. I hope those of you who bought them the last time really enjoyed them. They are so darned tasty! Juicy, sweet and delicious..... such a treat this year considering last year was a bust because of weather. Come and get 'em. We'll have them today and maybe 2 more times depending on how they ripen. Then the harvest is over :) A very short harvest window indeed.

Plum Coffee Cake

1 C flour
1/2 C sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp each ground nutmeg and ground cinnamon
2 large eggs
1/3 C milk
3 Tbsp melted butter
5 med size plums, halved and pitted
1/2 tsp cinnamon mixed with 2 Tbsp sugar

In a large bowl, stir together flour, sugar, baking powder, nutmeg and cinnamon. In a small bowl combine cinnamon/sugar for topping. In a small bowl stir together eggs, milk, and butter until blended; add to flour mixture and stir until well combined. Spread batter evenly in a greased 8-9 inch cake or quiche pan.
Evenly space plum halves cut side up on top of batter. Press slightly into batter. Sprinkle batter and fruit with cinnamon sugar mixture. Bake in a 375 degree oven until well browned, 40 - 45 minutes.

Cheers!

Fourth of July @ 12:45 - OPEN..... please come get berries

Hi gang,

This time the field workers showed up when they WERE NOT supposed to!!!! Here's the scoop.......

Annie is grabbing the van to fetch 18 flats out of the field. She should be there right about now. She is an absolute saint!! Those of you who were wishing they would have fresh berries today will be so happy!!! I would sincerely appreciate it if you would stop by and get them home with you. It's hot and Annie needs to leave @ 2:15 so we only have about an hour to spare. I don't want to dump them but....... I'll have to if I don't adopt them out right away.

My field error is your smiley face :)

Thank you!!!

Open @ noon, PLUMS arrive

Hi gang,

We'll harvest everything we can get tomorrow, including the other berries I'm trying this year. The firmer berries WILL hold for you 4th of July. I don't know how many berries I'll be able to get. It is July and the crop takes a breather before fall.

Berries will arrive @ noon. We may have more @ 2:00 if the field is not completely picked clean. If the field holds we could (and that's a big could) have more later than 2:00. It's a roll of the dice these days. When the berries came in on Sat 6/30 @ noon, we made it until 1:00 with what we brought in. I just want to make sure everyone has plan "B" and won't be extremely disappointed if they miss getting berries tomorrow. Some of you WILL get them for sure. I WISH I had more..... believe me..... I do.

PLUMS PLUMS PLUMS We have plums!!! My son Lee and I just picked them over the last couple of days. They are awesome, juicy and very sweet. We tried to put a mix in each basket of ready to eat and some that will hold for a few days. You can't miss these babies! We will have them only tomorrow and then again on Friday. The tree could be picked clean within the week so get 'em when you see 'em.

I put an additional sign on the gate that says..... If the gate is closed at 12:00 the stand will be closed that day.

We are always there before 12:00 if berries will be arriving.

You SHOULD see blueberries on Friday. Guess what I'll be doing over the holiday???

Have a wonderful, safe holiday 4th!!!

Sally Strawberry

Open 12:00 - 5:30/6:00 or sold out daily,
Closed Tuesday/Thursday
Days and hours will change with the harvest during July
